New Zealand has bowed out in the quarter final stage of the WDBF 2019 World Championships, in Cancun, Mexico in November 2019.
Despite a slow start, the New Zealand team grew into the tournament and were extremely competitive in their quarter final against USA, despite going down 10 – 2
The New Zealand team were impressive early on in the knock out match, holding the USA to 3-2 early in the first half before the American’s pulled away in the second half.
Once again the New Zealand team introduced a large number of debutants, with half the team making their debut for New Zealand.
Starting the tournament with a strong win against a Norway team, the mens team couldn’t find the consistency needed to win the tight games, although taking an early lead in a number of games during the tournament.
New Zealand finished 8th at the end of the round robin stages, and were eliminated by the eventual winner, USA, in the quarter final.
